From the heart of EPIC Fellowship Church, we lift this prayer of gratitude and hope for the life and legacy of Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson, Sr., who transitioned from our earthly realm on February 17, 2026. We thank You, Almighty God, for the vision, courage, and relentless commitment to justice You placed within him, a living reflection of the Church’s calling to lift the lowly, bind up the brokenhearted, and stand with the least of these.

We bless You for how Reverend Jackson’s ministry reflects the work of churches and ministries everywhere that labor to feed the hungry, advocate for the oppressed, and remind every soul of their God-given dignity. His life was the personification of service, a life poured out for others, shaped by sacrifice, compassion, and a willingness to suffer for causes that touch Black, Brown, and marginalized people both inside and outside the church. Through his public witness, his organizing, and his unwavering voice, he helped us see that there is still a balm in Gilead. A healing hope for wounded people and a restoring grace for a broken world.

We remember, Lord, how he proclaimed, “I am somebody,” affirming that every child, every neighbor, every forgotten one is seen, valued, and loved by You. May that declaration continue to echo in our sanctuaries, our streets, and our spirits, calling us to honor the image of God in all people and to keep building the table where every one of Your children has a seat. We honor You, God, for the mission You entrusted to Reverend Jackson: to serve Your people, to champion civil rights, and to keep hope alive for generations yet unborn.

Today, we lift his family, friends, and all who feel the weight of this loss, as homegoing and celebration services are held in Chicago and beyond in the days ahead. Surround them with Your comfort, strengthen them with Your peace, and let them feel the love and gratitude of the wider Body of Christ. We send love and strength to every heart that mourns Your servant, even as we rejoice that he now rests from his labor and that his works do follow him.

To You, O God, we give all glory, honor, and praise, for the life of Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., for the hope he carried, and for the work of justice and reconciliation that now continues through us.

Amen.
